Watermelon Lemonade / Лимонада с диня

Lately I've been very lazy about my posting. I think my muse for taking pictures and writing is gone on vacation. And that's very normal regarding the thermometer readings lately. For example last week we had 2 - 3 days of almost 40°C and 100% of humidity....I have to tell you as much as I love summer, I could'n wait for those extremely hot days to be over. So, you have to excuse me for not being able to bake or cook, respectively post about food. Our menu is being reduced to fresh salads, BBQ and icy cold fruit drinks, like the Watermelon Lemonade I'm sharing with you today.
If you live in area with similar weather conditions, I strongly recommend you to try the Watermelon Lemonade!

Mint and Chocolate Battenberg Cake for DB Challenge / Ментово - Шоколадов кейк Батенберг

It's the end of the month which means that it is time for June's Daring Bakers Challenge.
Mandy of What The Fruitcake?! came to our rescue last minute to present us with the Battenberg Cake challenge! She highlighted Mary Berry’s techniques and recipes to allow us to create this unique little cake with ease.
I have to admit that I have never heard of this cake. I have seen many different variations but never knew that it is called Battenberg cake. This month hostess Mandy was very kind and shared with us not only a perfect step by step picture tutorial but also very interesting information and history of this royalty dessert. The first Battenberg cake was made to celebrate the marriage of Queen Victoria’s grand daughter, Princess Victoria, to husband Prince Louis of Battenberg. Traditionally the cake is flavored with almond extract and has the signature Battenberg markings - the yellow and pink squares (said to represent the four princes of Battenberg). The strips of sponge are glued together using jam (normally apricot) and the whole cake is covered in marzipan. Sometimes the edges are crimped and the top is patterned with a knife.
I've decided to change the recipe a little bit and make it in one of my favorite flavor combinations chocolate and mint. The cake turned out great, the pictures not so much, but still you can get the idea.

Magic One-Ingredient Ice Cream / Магически сладолед само с една съставка

Hi Everyone! Is it already nice and warm where you live? If so, I have something that will cool you down and will freshen up your day without adding hundreds of calories. Plus it's very very easy to make and can be easily adjusted to your own taste. If you've read the post title you are probably wondering what is this magic ingredient. Well, you won't believe it! Bananas?! The thought of making ice cream out of frozen bananas had never passed trough my mind, so when I saw the idea on Pinterest I said to myself noway this is working! I was more than skeptical, but I decided to give it a try because there was nothing to loose. Said and done! I peeled and cut some bananas, froze them for 2 hours and when they were ready I've started the magical process. Instead of magic wand I used a blender, a few magic words and voila! Rich and creamy ice cream was created! I need to say this: " Faith, your sister is a genius! " !!! And for you I have two words - TRY IT ! It may sound crazy at first, but you'll be surprised how much the frozen and blended bananas resemble real ice cream texture and taste!
